About Dreame
Founded in 2017, Dreame Technology is a global consumer robotics and smart home appliance brand, known for robot vacuums, cordless vacuums, wet-dry floor cleaners and high-speed hair dryers. It has deep in-house expertise in high-speed motors, fluid dynamics, robot control and SLAM navigation.
The challenge
Dreame iterates its products quickly, and its manufacturing is complex: deep BOMs, a large number of materials and many components shared across products. Procurement has to coordinate multiple suppliers well in advance to secure supply.
With that much complexity, it was nearly impossible to tell by hand which materials would fall short, or when to buy or expedite them. Dreame needed a decision tool to calculate the real supply position, pinpoint the bottlenecks, and show how supply and demand would balance under different purchasing parameters.
The solution
Convect deployed its sales & operations planning and master supply planning application at Dreame. Using purchasing policies, capacity limits, inventory policies and multi-period demand as inputs, it builds a multi-period network model of Dreame’s production and transport network.
The optimizer then solves for the purchasing, production, shipping and inventory strategy that balances supply and demand at the lowest cost under real business constraints — with multiple objectives available, such as maximizing finished output, or maximizing output while consuming as much slow-moving material as possible.
Planners can create, copy and adjust plan versions to run quick what-if analyses — testing new purchasing lead times, in-transit inventory or different optimization goals and seeing the effect on production and resource allocation in minutes.
Convect’s data platform turns raw data into model-ready inputs, manages dataset versions, syncs with external sources and pushes results back to existing systems — keeping the planning model connected to day-to-day operations.
Results
- Supply and demand simulated end to end, with supply bottlenecks located automatically across multi-level BOMs.
- Planners can evaluate and compare alternative plans quickly.
- A shared, quantitative basis for procurement, production and sales to agree on a balanced plan.
- Lower risk of both obsolete and short materials — and lower inventory cost.
